June 24th, Mr. John Poole died aged 66. On Monday evening as Mr. Gould, traveller for Messrs. Lang of Hambridge Mills, was driving past the Langport Nurseries towards Pict’s Hill, having evidently mistaken the road, he endeavoured to turn the horse into the Huish Road when the wheel ran up the bank. The horse fell and the trap overturned. Mr. Gould sustained a fracture of his collar bone and the shock to his constitution was considerable. He was taken home and Dr. Hughes of Curry Rival was called in and he is now doing well. One of the horse’s legs was broken and it had to be shot. |
